The Green Pafos program is an initiative launched by the Municipality of Pafos in Cyprus to promote sustainable tourism practices and raise environmental awareness among locals and visitors. The program was first introduced in 2017, as part of Pafos’ efforts to become a more eco-friendly and sustainable destination.

The Green Pafos program is based on three main pillars: environmental awareness and education, waste reduction and recycling, and the use of sustainable energy. Some of the key initiatives under the program include:

  • Recycling and waste reduction: Pafos has implemented a number of initiatives to reduce waste and promote recycling, such as the installation of recycling bins throughout the city and the introduction of a waste collection schedule based on the needs of businesses and households.
  • Sustainable energy: The city has introduced a number of measures to reduce its energy consumption and promote the use of renewable energy sources, such as the installation of solar panels and energy-efficient lighting.
  • Environmental awareness and education: The Green Pafos program includes a range of educational and awareness-raising activities, such as workshops, seminars, and campaigns aimed at both locals and visitors. The program also encourages the participation of businesses and organizations in promoting sustainable tourism practices.

Overall, the Green Pafos program aims to promote sustainable tourism practices that benefit both the local community and the environment, while also enhancing the visitor experience.
